Ireland needs to take fluoride out of the water

600 Doctors, Dentists, Scientists and Environmentalists Call for an End to Fluoridation

Please see the prime time debate on water fluoridation in Ireland. John Gormley here is making it clear what we now know about fluoride - that it is toxic to the human body and should be avoided.

A recent report in America urges Congressional members to “recognize that fluoridation is outdated, has serious risks that far outweigh any minor benefits, violates sound medical ethics, and denies freedom of choice“

Ireland is one of the few nations left in Europe that fluoradate the national water supply. Its amazing the amount of evidence that now exists that indicates this is a health hazzard - yet we continue to put it into the water. It is clear now that fluoride only has benifit for teeth is applied topicaly (that is put directly on the teeth in a paste etc) It has no benifit what so ever is it is ingested - yet we now know that it can have very toxic effects on health if ingested.

The american report cites:

  • A 500-page review of fluoride’s toxicology by the National Research Council of the National Academies, published in 2006.
  • Evidence from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that found 32 percent of U.S. children have dental fluorosis, which is caused by fluoride.
  • The American Dental Association’s 2006 policy change, which recommends not giving fluoridated water to infants for the first 12 months of life.
  • A Harvard University study that found a five- to seven-fold increased risk of osteosarcoma (bone cancer) among young men who were exposed to fluoride between the ages of 6 and 8.
  • The CDC’s recognition that fluoride is beneficial in reducing tooth decay when it’s applied topically, not taken systemically

In reality, fluoride is a dangerous poison that does not help to protect your teeth when you ingest it via your drinking water. As even the CDC has admitted, fluoride may help your teeth if it’s applied topically, but taking it in systemically does not.

What it DOES do, as this much-needed statement points out, is:

      • Increase your risk of bone fractures
      • Decrease your thyroid function
      • Lower your IQ
      • Cause arthritic-like conditions and dental fluorosis
      • Possibly increase your risk of bone cancer

In the democracies of Western Europe, water fluoridation has been almost unanimously rejected. Countries there that have rejected fluoridation include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden. For explanations of why these countries chose not to fluoridate, visit www.fluoridealert.org/govt-statements.htm. Of particular interest in this respect is that according to World Health Organization figures (see http://www.fluoridealert.org/WHO-DMFT.htm) their children’s’ teeth are just as good, if not better, than the teeth of children in fluoridated countries.
