Metabolic Typing
Metabolic Typing
Metabolic Typing
Each of us is unique and very different in every way at every level - physically, genetically, biochemically and psychologically. We therefore have very different nutritional needs. Despite this, conventional nutrition teaches us that we should all eat the same way and take the same supplements. But there exists no one diet to meet every persons unique nutritional needs.

  • Ever wondered why some people lose weight and feel better on certain diets and others don't?
  • Every wondered why certain supplements and medications work for some but not others?
  • Ever wondered why sometimes after eating a meal you feel tired or still feel hungry despite being full up?

If we look back at our ancestry you will find that different populations ate very different diets depending on the part of the world in which they were situated. As a general rule of thumb, populations living in Northern Europe ate a diet rich in protein and fat, whilst populations nearer the equator ate a diet rich in carbohydrates. This was dictated by the types of food available in each of the differing climates and environments. Tropical climates nearer the equator supported much more plant life whilst northern climates had much less plant life, and consequently food sources relied heavily on animal life.

We have evolved on these diets for hundreds of thousands of years. The key to what we should eat if we are to be healthy lies in our genetic heritage stretching back many thousands of years. This is obviously very difficult to trace, and given the levels of migration that have taken place, the mixing of different races, etc it is virtually impossible. However the technique of Metabolic Typing allows us to determine our unique requirements.

"One mans Food is another mans Poison"

Metabolic Typing is a technique based on research and scientific study spanning the last 30 years that allows us to identify our own unique nutritional requirements. From this we can then find the right diet and supplement program that will help to optimize your health.

Your unique dietary program is initially established using an online questionnaire that analyses a host of physical, psychological, and dietary traits that will indicate your unique requirements.

There are two key areas to the dietary implications of your Metabolic Type; your correct balance of macronutrients (carbohydrates, fat and protein) and the types of food suited to your make up that will help achieve balance and wellbeing with in your body.

There are up to 10 Fundamental Homeostatic Control (FHC) systems of the body on which your metabolic type is based, these include; Autonomic Nervous System, Carbo-Oxidative System, Lipo-Oxidative Processes, Electrolyte/Fluid Balance, Acid/Alkaline Balance, Prostaglandin Balance, Endocrine System, Blood Type, Constitutional Elements, Neurotransmitter Balance. The first 2 systems are the most important, one of which will be the most dominant and will form the core on which your diet is based.

The Million Dollar Question - How can someone eat the best organic foods, take the finest nutritional supplements that money can buy, get pleanty of rest, exercise regularly..........AND STILL NOT FEEL WELL?

Answer: Metabolic Typing

Any food, nutrient or herb will will have a different effect in each of us depending on our metabolic type. This is why for given nutrient or supplement of a given meaure can produce a positive, negative or neutral effect. Metabolic and biochemical differences also explain the varying side effects seen with drugs.

You will find that any given food or nutrient will effect each FHC differently, and as such these substances can be either stimulating, sedating, acidifying or alkalinizing depending on which FHC is the dominant one in the individual that consumes them. This does not reflect well on any nutritional or medical approach that prescribes a given nutrient for a given complaint ie. calcium to prevent osteoporosis, or vitamin C to strengthen the immune system.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM METABOLIC TYPING?

Everyone and anyone. Whether you have ill health symptoms or disease or no symptoms at all. This is because Metabolic Typing works at a causative level. It has been shown that EVERY single degenerative disease (cancer, AIDS, heart disease, etc) or symptom (fatigue, constipation, headaches, etc) is the result of imbalances in any of the FHC's. In fact, any degenerative process or adverse health complaint can arise from imbalances in virtually any of the FHC's. Thus taking a specific supplement or food for a given complaint can never work for everyone as it will effect each of us differently. Metabolic Typing works to address the imbalances and as a consequence will help resolve the cause behind any symptom or degenerative disease (nb. Metabolic Typing should not be viewed as a treatment for disease, but a means of addressing the underlying imbalance). Further it will help prevent symptoms and disease from developing in the future. Understand that treating a given problem at symptom level does not address the imbalance and in cases where you are successful in addressing the symptom the imbalance eventually manifests itself some other way (ie a different complaint).

Eating right for your metabolic type will help improve any health complaint, physical or psychological. Some of the effects you will see from eating to your metabolic type will include:

  • Better Energy Levels
  • Improved Sports Performance
  • Optimal Weight
  • Better Mood and Concentration
  • Better Skin
  • Stronger Immune System
  • Improved Digestive Health
  • Improved Overall Wellbeing
  • Elimination of Cravings

"The bottom line is that dietary solutions need to be tailored to INDIVIDUALS because what works for one person may have no effect on another person, and may make a third person worse."
